Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist, was invited as a honorary speaker at one of the most anticipated and renowned business events in Zambia. The Forbes-FIN Philanthropic and Leadership Roundtable Conference is an international business event wherein honorary speakers of high repute are invited from all over Africa as well as across the globe. The roundtable conference is usually held alongside the UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) every year. However, this year’s conference was held online via audio-video conference due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic that has gripped the entire world. The conference invited speakers from all spheres of life including political leaders, spiritual and philanthropic leaders, media partners, international investors as well as members from international business communities.

Apart from the leadership discussion, the conference also had a notable award ceremony called Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. The awards is given annually to top entrepreneurs, leadership, businesses and successful people with significant long-term contributions towards the development and growth of the African nation. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was not only a honorary speaker of the event, he was also selected for one of the awards within the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards category. For his contributions, Forbes bestowed Dr. Rajan Mahtani with the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. This award was given to Dr. Mahtani for his significant contributions towards the banking sector and redefining it. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the owner of several successful firms across Zambia. However, one of the most popular and successful businesses has been the Mahtani Group of Industries, which was established in the year 1981. Since its establishment, the company has been able to expand its operations to mining, agriculture, energy, insurance, finance, real estate and many more. At the same time, Dr. Mahtani’s philanthropic contributions have been immense. He founded the Prison Fellowship Zambia for providing equal opportunities and justice for inmates. Also, he founded the Stephen Malama award for top law graduates in Zambia which also includes scholarship.
