Zambian President’s Announcement Receives Support From Dr. Mahtani


The recent decision made by the Zambian President has received support from all strata of the Zambian society as well as African nation. Among these supports is noted businessman, philanthropist and charity worker Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. Over the course of four decades, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has built several successful businesses in Zambia, Africa as well as across the globe. Along with business milestones, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is also known for his philanthropic milestones and one of them is Prison Fellowship Zambia. Prison Fellowship was founded by Dr. Rajan Mahtani more than three decades back and he is still contributing towards its development and growth as the President and Chairman. It is a popular Christian Outreach Program that focusses on bringing the learnings and teachings of Jesus Christ to prisoners at Zambian prisons. Also, the program focusses on providing criminal justice, fundamental dignity and fundamental rights to these prisoners.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani made official statement towards supporting the announcement made by the Zambian President. This is due to the fact that the announcement has similar goals as one of the goals of Prison Fellowship Zambia which is to ensure fundamental human rights for the prisoners. President Hakainde Hichilema, on the eve of Africa Day, made an announcement of his quest towards abolishing the inhuman, dregrading and cruel punishment of death penalty. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani added his voice to this noble announcement and stated that he will provide full support towards this decision via his company Prison Fellowship as the announcement will require significant legal and regulatory overhaul to achieve reality. Also, Dr. Rajan Mahtani praised the President and his decision by stating that only an individual who is compassionate and respects the fundamental rights oof every human will be able to make such bold yet noble decision. He stated that the voice towards abolishing death penalty is growing across the globe and Zambia, and it was a step in the right direction by the Zambian President.
