Death Penalty Abolishment Decision From Zambian President.

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, owner of noted Christian Outreach Program Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ) recently extended his support towards the announcement made by the Zambian President. On the special occasion of Africa Day, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema announced that he plans to abolish the death penalty completely. This announcement was met with significant positive response. Dr. Rajan Mahtani also said that his company Prison Fellowship Zambia will provide legal and regulatory support. While the announcement made by the Zambian President was certainly a step in the right direction, it will be a long and daunting path towards reaching the goal which is transforming the announcement into a real law. As such, Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Prison Fellowship Zambia will provide all legal and regulatory support during the process.

Prison Fellowship is a noted philanthropic contribution from Dr. Rajan Mahtani which was established more than three decades ago. Dr. Rajan Mahtani currently resides in the position of Group Chairman. Since its establishment, Prison Fellowship has been working towards transforming the lives of the Zambian prison inmates by bringing the teachings of Jesus Christ to inmates, ex-inmates as well as their families in Zambia. The program also works towards ensuring that the inmates are not devoid of fundamental human rights and basic human dignity as well as they are given the appropriate opportunity of transparent criminal justice. Dr. Rajan Mahtani praised the announcement made by the Zambian President and stated that death penalty is a cruel, degrading and inhumane law. It is an archaic process that holds no significance and benefit for the Zambian government, especially when the awareness towards abolishing death penalty has growth significantly across the globe and can be seen across Africa and Zambia too. Presidents have stopped giving capital punishment or executions and the Zambian Government has started strategic decongestion of Prisons due to the degrading and dangerous condition of some of the Maximum prisons. As such, the decision from the Zambian President aligns in the right direction of transforming the Zambian legal and regulatory system.
