Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani takes leap of faith with Court of Appeal, wins case of Portland Cement

Zambia is a nation that has suffered greatly due to the unethical activities, corruption and illegal activities that has reached even top leadership positions across the nation. In such situations, it becomes extremely difficult for businesses to continue their transparent and ethical practices. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is among those few business persons in Zambia who has achieved success despite these challenges and by remaining ethical and transparent. Despite this transparent success and reputation, Dr. Rajan Mahtani significantly struggled in the case of Portland Cement Zambia. While his transparent business practices and ethical standing was on one side, dishonest and corrupt parties trying to bet against him as well as unethical legal institutions were on the other side. As a result, many of the people who learned about the final decision by the Lusaka High Court on the Portland Cement Zambia case were not that surprised. The judge at the Lusaka High Court was justice Mwinde who announced Ventriglias as the only shareholder of the Portland Cement Zambia, which was an extremely controversial judgement.

Notwithstanding this corrupt decision, Dr. Rajan Mahtani approached the higher Court of Appeal for justice. Dr. Mahtani long due for justice came to an end and the reward was sweet. Dr. Mahtani won the case of Portland Cement Zambia as justice Mwinde announced that after looking into evidences and testimonials, it was found that Dr. Mahtani owns 58 percent shares of the Portland Cement Zambia factory. It was also announced that Dr. Rajan Mahtani has made all payments associated with the takeover of the 58 percent shares of the factory. Dr. Rajan Mahtani made a payment of one billion kwachas, equivalent to USD 250,000 to the Portland Cement Zambia limited for taking over 58 percent shares of the factory. This payment was further confirmed in the original shareholders agreement established in the year 2007. Based on all these evidences and testimonials, justice Mwinde declared Dr. Mahtani as the actual owner of the factory and officially dissolving the Lusaka HC judgement.
