Favourable Results Announced By The Higher Court Of Appeal On Portland Cement Case

As a result, when Dr Rajan Mahtani was denied justice even after waiting patiently for more than a decade, it was not a surprise for many. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is one of the few businessmen in Zambia who has a reputation which not many can boast. With more than three decades of business experience, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been able to build a significant business empire despite the challenges thrown by the Zambian economy. As a result, it is no secret that Dr. Rajan Mahtani has many jealous people eying against his establishments, success and reputation.

While justice was denied at the Lusaka High Court where the case was originally established, justice was finally given at the higher Court of Appeal where Dr. Mahtani made his reappeal. Judge Mwinde, after looking into evidences and testimonials, announced that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the actual owner of the factory. This verdict was confirmed with the factual evidence of transfer of one billion kwachas from Dr. Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments limited to Portland Cement factory. Similarly, another evidence which confirmed Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s legal ownership over the factory was original agreement between shareholders which was established in the year 2005. Based on this evidence, it was confirmed that Dr. Rajan Mahtani took over 58 percent shares of the Portland Cement factory when he paid the above sum to the factory.
