Dr. Mahtani Recognised And Awarded For Philanthropic Contributions


Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessperson, philanthropist, and charity worker in Zambia, was recently conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award.

While Dr. Rajan Mahtani was recognised for redefining the banking sector of Zambia, he is also known for his significant business and philanthropic contributions. He is the founder and current group chairperson of the Mahtani Group of Companies. The company was founded in the year 1981 and since then, it has transformed into one of the biggest conglomerates across Africa. The company has gained presence across Malawi, Zambia, and South Africa and also many international locations. In a comparable manner, Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s company has expanded its presence across various sectors such as real estate, energy, agriculture, mining, insurance, and financial services. Across all these sectors, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has made significant contributions by providing employment and livelihood opportunities, improving community economy as well as engaging in environmental contributions. The program is affiliated to Prison Fellowship International (PFI), Washington and work towards seeking care and welfare for the ex-inmates, inmates, and their families. It also advocates towards a fair and transparent system for criminal justice. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has also made significant contributions towards uplifting the Zambian education system. He is the founder of the Stephen Malama award and scholarship. The scholarship was founded in the year 2013 in the memory of late Stephen Malama, Kitwe lawyer. The award is presented to the top law graduates and comes with a significant financial aid to support the dreams and wishes of the honorary law candidates winning the award. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani continues to work for the betterment and development of the Zambian nation.
